Yes, the infamous CHA error has attacked my Nikon D90 twice since I got the camera last Fall. I have been using the camera with Lexar’s SD HC 4 and 8GB without a glitch all this time. Fortunately for me I have had the ‘CHA’ error while making adjustments on the camera. What I have noticed, the Nikon D90 might be too tight for the card when sliding it in. As a result, the safety lock that prevents your card from being accidentally erased, might slide to the center where it isn’t locked or unlocked. A have several Lexar SD cards for my cameras and I have glued the locking slider with Super Glue. So far so good.

Thanks, that was it!
greetings, from Brazil
When the slider is half way like this did it let you write to your computer? I got this message, checked the card, all seems to be correct, so I tried to copy to my computer and it’s working! but it’s taking ridiculously longer than normal.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
I’ll try to update if anything changes
UPDATE:
I completely emptied the memory card to my computer and then the problem went away. Just in case I formatted the memory card in-camera.
I think the problem happened after I partially emptied the memory card via card reader on my laptop. I’ve done this many many times previously but apparently something on the card was corrupted this time around?
I’m so glad to be able to use my camera again
oh! I think the upload to the computer was taking longer than normal due to the computer waiting for me to approve a security update(?)
After I did that and went to move the rest of the data to the computer everything was QUICK as normal
