Shutter Life expectancy on the Nikon D100

Posted by George Collazo On June - 11 - 2009

De Queen Bee Sports Editor ask thru my email:

”I am using a 7 year old D100. How many captures can I reasonably expect from this camera before it has problems or needs to be replaced?

I’m making a pitch for a D90 or at least a D80.

Thanks for your help.”

Hello my friend, to be honest a shutter can go bad at any moment.  The average on the D100 is around 60 to 80,000 cycles however word has it from other users that it is going over 100k and even 150k. You migh want to check this link for a nice database from real users. As a D100 and D200 user, you will be very happy if you go for a Nikon D90. The D100 was a great camera in its day, technology has changed a lot since then.
